Red shirt Friday is a nationwide effort to bring attention to show support for our service men and women. In showing our support a few members of the Milwaukee Fire Department re-designed our daily optional t-shirt in red and are selling them to members and anyone who wants to show support for our troops. Proceeds from the MFD shirt sales will go to the Homes for our Troops mission. Homes for our Troops is an organization devoted to helping those who have selflessly given to their country and have returned home with serious disabilities and injuries. Read all about their organization and efforts at http://www.homesforourtroops.org All proceeds of the MFD red shirt sales are put right back to this project. Paul Conway Shields is please to support this project.
Currently the proceeds from MFD shirt sales will benefit Army SPC Jason Schulz of Waukesha, Wisconsin. Army SPC Jason M. Schulz was returning from a vehicle recovery mission in November 2007 when the Salvage and Recovery Wrecker he was riding in struck an IED in Mosul, Iraq. The blast ripped through the door on the right side of the truck, hitting the location where SPC Schulz was seated, resulting in the loss of both of his legs. After first being airlifted to Germany, SPC Schulz arrived at Brooke Army Medical Center in Texas to begin his recovery process.
